To Our Members:
Well guys and gals here we are again. The 29th annual module meet is coming up in
less than 7 weeks. There are some changes in modules. Roger Cutter has enlarged his
with help from a few members. The Canadians have updated theirs. The old crowd will
be here along with friendly suppliers with all that needed equipment and supplies
you may need or want.
As we look around we are all getting older. The long evenings we used to have, have
slowly been cutting back and the hall is near empty by 10 o’clock. We are losing a
couple members each year. Fortunately we are getting a few younger members that will
hopefully help keep this group going. Since I retired in 2000 and passed my small
NG sales to Ray and being in the live steam for many years I have not been keeping
up with the narrow gauge part of the hobby. As I read and hear about what has been
going on in the hobby it seems there has been and will be more changes in the future.
The beautiful brass models we have seen in the past are slowly changing into mixed
metals for locomotives. Plastic is now big in models. I also hear there are problems
in the Asian market. I really do not know what is going on but I hear some companies
are closing up. Prices are climbing. But is quality still there or is it slowly decreasing?
If anyone out there really knows what is happening let me know and I will have Allen
put it on the site.
The hall is about filled with modules and tables. I’m not sure if there are any tables
left to be had. Ray is in charge of setting up the suppliers and modules and anyone
needing a table should call him to see if there is any more room.
Glenn the beef guy will be here Saturday for lunch and also for dinner as last year.
Some still like to go out and be served but those that eat here can spend more time
in the hall and save a lot of money that can be spent on “stuff”!
Another thing I hope to do is cut back on the paper work at sign-in. That should save
on time.
Hope to see all of you in May.
Thank you,
Bruce
